Abstract

  • The total workforce in August 2021 was 7.51 million people, an increase of 161,000 people compared to August 2020. In line with the increase in the number of the workforce, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 0.43 percentage point.
  • The August 2021 Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) was 6.33 percent, down 0.58 percentage point compared to August 2020.
  • The working population is 7.04 million people, an increase of 194 thousand people from August 2020. Employment fields that experienced the largest percentage increase were the Accommodation and Food and Drink Provision Sector (0.56 percentage point). Meanwhile, the sectors that experienced the largest decline were the Wholesale and Retail Trade Sector; Car and Motorcycle Repair and Maintenance (0.44 percentage point).
  • A total of 4.18 million people (59.33 percent) worked in informal activities, down 0.29 percentage point compared to August 2020.
  • The percentage of underemployed decreased by 0.74 percentage point, while the percentage of part-time workers increased by 0.73 percentage point compared to August 2020.
  • There are 814,000 people (7.49 percent of the working age population) affected by COVID-19. Consisting of unemployment due to COVID-19 (84 thousand people), Non-Working Forces (BAK) due to COVID-19 (28 thousand people), temporarily not working due to COVID-19 (59 thousand people), and working residents who experienced a reduction in working hours. due to COVID-19 (643 thousand people).
