August 2024, Sumatera Utara's exports increased by 7.40 percent

Abstract

The export value through loading ports in the Sumatera Utara region in August 2024 increased compared to July 2024, namely from US$969.75 million to US$1,041.48 million or an increase of 7.40 percent. When compared to August 2023, Sumatera Utara's exports increased by 12.66 percent.
The group of goods that experienced the largest decrease in August 2024 compared to July 2024 was the food industry dregs/waste group, which decreased by US$13.50 million (-17.91%) followed by the tobacco group, which decreased by US$2.46 million (-10.23%). The group of goods that experienced the largest increase in export value was the animal/vegetable fats & oils group, which increased by US$101.75 million (31.26%), followed by the group of various chemical products, which increased by US$7.20 million (5.98%).
Exports to China in August 2024 were the largest at US$191.95 million, followed by the United States at US$124.34 million and India at US$72.29 million, with the contribution of all three reaching 37.31 percent. According to the main export destination countries in August 2024, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest at US$382.73 million (36.75%).
