Abstract

In March 2024, year on year (y-on-y) inflation in North Sumatra Province will be 3.67 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.63. The highest inflation occurred in Labuhanbatu Regency at 5.87 percent with a CPI of 110.50 and the lowest occurred in Deli Serdang Regency at 2.89 percent with a CPI of 106.22.
Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index for all expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 8.15 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.23 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.68 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group of 1.01 percent; health group at 1.18 percent; transportation group by 0.47 percent; information, communication and financial services group at 0.04 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.69 percent; education group at 1.54 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 2.16 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 3.50 percent.
The month to month (m-to-m) inflation rate was 0.72 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 1.53 percent.
